Acupuncture Theory

Acupuncture-Developed in China, this soothing therapy has been providing relief to people for more than 2000 years.  Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture is a holistic medicine that addresses the whole person, body and mind, in its healing approach.  The main goal of TCM is to treat the root pattern that is causing the disease.  Essentially what that means is that it factors in all of the symptoms a person is experiencing as indicators of a constitutional pattern specific to that person.  Treating the root is what causes a change in health, so that the pattern and symptoms are resolved.

Acupuncture works by utilizing the body’s own healing ability.  When the acupuncture points are stimulated it uses the nervous system to send a message to the brain and spinal cord.  This causes the release of “good feeling” chemicals such as serotonin, dopamine and endorphins which makes people feel better both physically and emotionally.

The more frequently the root pattern of disease is treated, the easier it is for the body to become balanced, maintaining a pattern of health.
